HISTORY
Here’s a bit of history:
THE BEGINNING as “JD HIDEAWAY” in 1992 — this first establishment was a former chuckwagon concept from the Calgary Stampede and quickly grew with the attention and traffic of highway 24.
REINVENTED as “Mossleigh Outpost” in 1995 — official records show a business register listing “Mossleigh Outpost 2000” founded in 1995. Originally established as Mossleigh Outpost, this beloved venue has been a cornerstone of the community for decades. Known affectionately as “The Outpost” by locals, it has long been a gathering place filled with character and charm.
Tragedy struck when a fire destroyed the original buildings, leaving only the iconic neon “Outpost” sign as a remnant of its early days. Rebuilt with resilience, the venue rose from the ashes, preserving its historic spirit.
Under new ownership by Cassie and Ken, the bar transformed into the Mossleigh Bar N Grill, becoming a fully licensed family restaurant. With a dedicated team, they introduced homemade dishes, live music, daily specials, and a vibrant menu that keeps patrons coming back. Through constant improvements and strong community support, Mossleigh Bar N Grill has cemented its place as a cherished local landmark with a rich and storied history.
